Working Groups

WeCAN members participate through working groups to develop positive solutions to the climate challenge. Working groups focus on a number of key issues including sustainable design, transportation solutions, renewable electricity generation, energy efficiency, sustainable agriculture, local economies, and more. Working groups can be small teams dedicated to advancing a very specialized solution, or large strategic coalitions focusing on a broad general topic. By focusing on specific types of solutionss and uniting the many types of experience our participants hold, these groups develop implementation strategies for concrete climate solutions.

Working groups affirm the need for exchange between people with widely varying types of expertise to develop the dynamic intersection of technology, finance, policy, and citizen organizing needed to solve individual problems. Working groups draw from the experience of people from many different backgrounds and develop feasible strategies that local groups can actually implement. Working groups collaborate on a broader scale to integrate many solutions into a holistic transition.

We have tried to create an adequate web of our working groups: try to find one that fits your issue under the categories defined below or search using tags that describe your topic. If a group does exist, contact someone in it to request to join. If we don’t have one yet, do some research on ongoing efforts to advance your solution as others are probably already working on it. If not, find a few other who can bring ideas together to get discussion going, join WeCAN and then create a Working Group.
