Regional Groups

WeCAN members participate through regional groups to create local climate solutions. These regions can be as small as a couple of neighbors, or as large as a state or even a nation, but always focus on climate solutions addressed to a specific area. Regional Groups develop strategies that incorporate the ideas and needs of all the individuals and institutions in the area they represent to build sustainable communities in line with local values.

Regional Groups have a particularly strong role in building a sense of shared purpose across regions at the local level, and mobilizing people power to actually implement solutions. Climate solutions depend on new infrastructure suited to the local economy, geography, climate, culture, and values, so strong local efforts to create these solutions are essential. At larger scales, broader regions integrate and synthesize local efforts to build interdependent, reliable infrastructure systems.

Find a Regional Group near you by searching for your region/community or using the map. If one exists, contact one of the members to get on board. If we don’t have one on WeCAN yet, check around your neighborhood – a group may already exist that we don’t know about. Whether you find a group, or get a few friends together to start your own, join WeCAN and then create a Regional Group.
