Community Based Wind Energy

Many institutions have begun to purchase wind turbines to market their school as green, to help supplement rising energy costs, and/or to meet the goals of the President’s Climate Commitment. Conversely, many schools choose to invest in Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) and offsets that create demand and drive prices of credits rather than wind infrastructure. Both of these approaches are too small and will not result in an adequate market for wind turbines, nor a grid that is prepared to handle thousands of megawatts of wind. As students, we are beginning to develop a new model that takes a different approach to the solution of wind energy - connecting rural landowners with investors and creating the infrastructure for the future.

Wind Power one-pager

Here is a one pager I just threw together. I'm writing mostly from my knowledge of the situation and so it's very skimpy on details and research. I barely mentioned grid restructuring, which is super important. Please revise it if you know the answers!
